What is a Camporee?

Cadet clubs come together for traditional rustic group camping, reveling in God's awesome nature, and doing crafts, activities and devotions. Hours are from reveille at 7am to 10pm taps. The chaplain holds a Morning Watch during our morning assembly. Every night the chaplain leads devitions at the evening assembly. Special programs are a feature of each evening assembly.

We provide a camporee booklet with schedules, menus, and miscellaneous information to each club. Each camper receives a souvenir craft and T-shirt to take home at the end of camp.

We camp in tents arranged by club and eat and sleep in familiar groups. Each club provides all tents and equipment for cooking, housekeeping, and shelter.

Food is provided and distributed from the food trailer and each club has containers to bring their food back to their campsite and prepare according to the menu and directions provided. Meals are breakfast, 7:30am-9:00am; lunch, 11:00am-1:30pm; and dinner, 5:00pm-7:00pm. These meal times include preparation and cleanup.

The cadets and counselors are assigned to activities by a group number and go to the activities with that group for the duration of camp. They are assigned the number randomly and may not be with their own club members, although some will be due to large clubs.

Activities will include riflery, archery, camp craft, shelter building, geocaching, and more. They run for two hours each, 9:00am-11:00am and 1:30pm-3:30pm. All equipment for the activities is provided by the All Michigan Camporee. All activities are rigorously supervised by trained adults.

A health officer is on site with a first-aid equipped tent. All health officers are properly qualified doctors or nurses who meet the requirements of the State of Michigan.
